Rick is patient, and detailed…just the kinda guy who can get orchids to bloom in Portland!… and we sure had fun helping convert his shed into this climate controlled orchid wonderland.
Because the fir bark that orchids prefer as a growth medium doesn’t absorb much, watering becomes a flow through affair. Rather than bring each pot to the sink, we designed a drainage pan system underneath the pot trays. Now Rick just carries around the hose and his caring gaze.
Meeting Specific Needs
True to their reputation, orchids have needs. In this case meeting those needs required electricity, water and natural gas along with the heater and misting systems. We also insulated wherever possible and sealed the floor with an elastomeric coating.
